Our philosophy

First, let’s make this clear. We do not believe in “offering the world”. It’s too big and we believe in having a much smaller backyard and knowing every corner of it. So our focus is Asia and the Pacific. From Bhutan to Bora Bora, basically anything east of Longitude 80. Second, we guide, in fact, all our custom itineraries are based on our guiding experience. We have been to each of the places we suggest to you and we have stayed many nights in each of the luxurious properties you will be staying. Third? We keep going back, over and over…..researching, double checking details. Finally, Longitude 80 offers discovery trips across one or several countries in Asia, we excel at combining many countries in one seamless itinerary. We design private multi country trips within your set number of days and will deliver amazing experiences every day. Longitude 80 sees a demand from our previous travellers and referrals for a new style of travel, one that would offer more specific geographical areas or more focused thematic style of trips.

The two images here are an example of how Longitude 80 thinks. There is a town in China’s Gansu province called Dunhuang. The whole area was an important staging oasis post during the Silk Road era and is famous for stunning frescoes in caves and huge sand dunes. To me, not only the art and frescoes meant we absolutely needed to incorporate Dunhuang in our Silk Road itinerary but it’s closeness to the Gobi desert was fantastic. For most of us when the image of deserts and sand dunes come to mind, camels are not far behind. Unfortunately, I was not the first to have this idea (image below) and the horror show of hundreds of camels, parking lot with buses and a set route was not what I wanted for our guests. Long story short, with assistance of our Chinese guides, a willing camel owner and a generous “donation”, we were able to re-route a few camels the day before we arrived, locate them in a remote area 20 km away from the tourist park (that’s a story in itself) and for a glorious 2 hours in complete silence, travellers are able to trek on the ancient Silk Road in the Gobi desert. On their own…

All our trips are delivered the same way. Everything is bespoke. You tell us when, where and how long. What sets most itineraries designed for Longitude 80 apart is that they are much more specific and much more in depth. We now find many repeat travelers want to go back to specific areas of Vietnam or request a trekking trip in Mongolia or a photography trip along the Mekong River or spending 3 weeks in Bhutan and spend time in a monastery. Experiential travel is “in” and for us, a lot of fun (well, most of the time) to research and plan. So, our expanding series of “In Style” journeys reflect this combination of unique and private and hopefully give you some great ideas for your next holiday. Our services don't stop at taking you to Borneo to see orangutans or designing a wine tasting trip across New Zealand. Our expertise across all major cities in Asia can deliver anything you need on a short stopover in places such as Hong Kong or Manilla. From VIP airport transfers where you will be met at the bridge and escorted through Customs & Immigration through our “Fast Track” services to a half day fun biking experience in Bangkok to enjoying lunch with a Singaporean art gallery owner, we can design something very quickly. And keep you away from the crowds.
